This is a repost of my post soon after the appointment of Robert Mueller. It speaks to bigger political issues. But politicians are always quick to play small ball, because a vast majority of your fellow Americans have little understanding, or appreciation, of the rules of the game.
I thought the message to Moscow was to be, “You can’t mess with us.” A collective effort to flex some damn democratic muscle and passionately punch back against foreign plutocrats trying to cyber-punk our nation’s general election.
But instead we get a Special Counsel. An extra-legal circumvent that allows the legislative branch of this Republic to sidestep, once again, the oath of their office, and the exercise of its power, while honestly governing a liberal democracy.
And ain’t that the whole of the criticism that informs anti-democratic forces. That parliaments are but pretenders when push comes to shove. That collective voices eventually sound flat and flail when compared to the singular tone of the full-throated strongman who grabs the spotlight and leads by dictate and decree. An interesting harmonic, that.
Democrats think they have won. Wrong. Why a chant of “Do Your Job,” when the GOP can counter with… Bobby Three Sticks is now running the Kremlin Comeuppance. Republican legislators are now free to do what they consider God’s Work. Like… move monies up, stack the court, keep the Census count down, and continue to thin out… voter registration, and much more.
