Susan’s Good Book
— — —

They will March
to my funeral Mix
my obituary
Auto-Tuned…
I was ecumenical,
hitting highs and
lows

and for this, segue
I’ve pre-ordered
attendee SWAG
a brooch, a flask,
day spa, and something
rare and on vinyl and
at 33 and one-third

And in lieu of flowers
I want neon, real neon,
with that baseline static hum
a martini glass with flashing olive
some leggy dame in blue hue silhouette
and a rusty orange saxophone lit by musical
notes in sequential escape

As for the final hymn
contact the current
Attorney General
rope ‘em in with
a dead man’s request ,
if that trope honored
Sing Along

If not,
let the Jordanaires
and their lead singer
intone Peace In The Valley
and Fini

I want a closed coffin
containing an open book
of Susan’s choosing
a title she shares with no one
not ever
not even
with My
Maker

Poem 7 April 7 14

God only knows what this is. Poesy, prose poem, flash fiction, three minutes of maudlin. But it’s what I’ve got  for today.
